Deprived communities will benefit from a pound;10mproject to give them Internet acces. Michael Wills, learning and technology minister, said estates, tower blocks and rural areas will be linked to their own community web with access to government, job, health and educatio services by the end of 2001 in a pilot scheme. The Wired Communities project will look at six key areas including: the impact of new technologies on different types of community and partnerships between the public and private sectors.
