Your article “Exeter academy is model for future” (TES, May 18) is inaccurate in claiming that plans for a tie-up between the city’s tertiary college and schools are an example of “Labour’s” vision for secondary education.

Members of the commission (looking at the future of Exeter education which came up with the idea), chaired by Ted Wragg, represented a cross-section of interested parties, including all the political parties on DevonCounty Council (Conservative, Labour, Liberal and Liberal Democrat).

The decision on the recommendations will, I believe, lie with Devon Council. At present, of 54 members of this, 29 are Liberal Democrat, so how can you suggest that the recommendations are “Labour” plans? This could only be the case if Labour had hijacked the commission process.
