The CEF and the AFC had never seen eye to eye in the short course of their respective histories. Now they are merged, a “hand of friendship” policy has been decreed.

There must be an end to the acrimony, says Roger Ward. There is a line drawn under the past. Sadly, the hand of friendship seems to entail dispensing with the services of a large number of former friends and colleagues including his secretary of 14 years’ standing. The severed hand of friendship, as it were.
