Dictionary for young poets

"Cat" goes with "rat" and "mat", but what do "orange" or "scissors" go with? Chambers have produced a Primary Rhyming Dictionary in response to demands from teachers. It offers 8,000 rhyming words that will help children between the ages of seven and 11 create their own poems. Groups of rhyming words are clearly presented in a two-colour format, with a simple index functioning as a verbal marriage bureau. There are also 40 short verses specially composed by Benjamin Zephaniah, putting words through some acrobatic tricks to help get young writers started. Chambers Primary Rhyming Dictionary costs pound;7.99 from bookshops or pound;5.99 from the publisher's website.
