IT WAS a big disappointment to see no correction in your main article on principals’ salaries or in the accompanying table. Clydebank College was at number 11 overall, but the figure for Clydebank covered the salary of the then principal on long-term sick leave and that for his acting replacement for a period of about eight months.

If you are to run this exercise again, in the interest of fairness and of good statistical practice, it would be better to show the college concerned without the table and explain why.

The article in the Scottish edition also pointed out how colleges in Scotland are seeking to keep their senior managers’ salary increases in line with those of staff. Again, no mention was made of this - or what is happening in Wales or Northern Ireland - in your main article.

Education is devolved and becoming more different in the UK’s four nations.

It would reflect the situation more accurately if this could be acknowledged in all editions of your paper.
