It can be cool to be in on a new movement in art, particularly if it gains recognition. So the artists among you may want to check out Pixelism.org, a group that includes Yorkshire Coast College tutors Kate Cunningham and Mike Ambler. Pixelism, a term which may soon be accepted by the Oxford Dictionary, aims for the synthesis of fine art techniques with digital technology. Appropriately, it is already provoking debate. “Hate the title, admire the vision, support the thinking behind it,” said Sir Christopher Frayling, rector of the Royal College of Art. Check out the pixelists’
website; or better still visit the three dimensional exhibition at Crescent arts, Scarborough, until April 26.
