Nearly 75 per cent of secondary schools and 88 per cent of colleges will offer the new work-related diploma courses from next year, it was announced this week. But, as The TES went to press, doubt was being cast over the validity of the figures. The Department for Children, Schools and Families announced that 10 independent schools were introducing the courses from September next year,. But it was forced to withdraw the claim after discovering at least one of the schools did not have pupils old enough.
