Dire debut makes bored heads ache

IT’S not just TES hacks who were surprised to spot Anthea Millett in Sanctuary Buildings, months after we thought she’d gone to the Caymans.

Anth has been hired by the Department for Education and Employment as consultant for its new appraisal system. Heads turning up for compulsory training sessions have found themselves watching a video introduction starring the woman herself.

Seated in front f a wall of books (gravitas, you know), she begins by saying: “Some of you may recognise me. My name’s Anthea Millett and I’m here to talk to you about performance management.”

Hearts across the nation have sunk at her style of delivery, considered slightly wooden - boring, actually - and training staff have been warned of this “problem” and told to show the video without comment. Oh dear.
