We share the concern of Barry Lillie from the Black Cat Theatre company about “discrimination” (“Curtain drawn over gay relationships in sex ed show”, July 2). But on this point he might reconsider the insensitivity of the storyline which caused alarm bells to ring, featuring - as its sole gay character - a rapist.
Our girls’ education on gay sex and relationships is not exclusively delegated to his theatre shows. It is accurate that “When Larry Met Gary” was an option we chose not to book, but the report neglects that this was one of five shows that were not selected. And if this was indicative of a “discriminatory” agenda, why would we wait until a third of the way through the shows we did book to make our request?
