David Blunkett came to praise teachers - and they responded with ill-mannered jeers.

Their conduct was a disgrace - and a stain on hard-working and decent teachers who deserve better representation by their leaders.

Blunkett is one of the success stories of te Blair government.

He has triumphed over adversity and has no time for whingers.

He deserves his promotion to Home Secretary after the election.

We only hope Tony Blair picks someone just as tough to carry on the Blunkett revolution.

Leader, April 16
