The strange views attributed to Ivan Lewis at the Association of Colleges’

conference (FE Focus, June 25) compound the deep concern in the career-guidance field.

I am not aware of anyone who has ever had a two-hour careers interview.

Work experience is a valuable enhancement to career-guidance interviews but is certainly no substitute for them.

The AoC survey provides clear evidence of the erosion of career-guidance provision which has taken place since the inception of the Connexions service.

It is a public scandal, of which those responsible should be deeply ashamed.
