Mike Harper, head of the teaching and learning division in the Assembly government’s education department, is to take early retirement in March. Mr Harper, 58, is leaving to take up a research studentship at Cardiff university on reprofessionalising the further education workforce. His current responsibilities include teachers’ pay, conditions, workload, and training, and school leadership.
