Technology Tasks consists of 20 units to help children in Years 5 and 6 develop design and making capabilities in a systematic and structured way.

Available on CD-Rom, the program’s worksheets are quickly installed to let you print them off at up to 60 at a time.

The emphasis is on developing knowledge, understanding and skills, and the units are intended to be independent, so you may use them according to the needs of children.

The units all begin with the teacher’s notes then task one develops knowledge and understanding of the topic and provides focused practice. Task two takes the topicfurther and provides opportunities for more designing and making. An assessment sheet and a record sheet are also included.

The four case study units included follow a similar, but slightly different pattern and the software provides the licence to print everything for use in the purchaser’s school.

These are quality worksheets, but that quality comes at a price. With around 100 worksheets at a cost of just under pound;1 per sheet, it might be too costly for smaller schools.

Another grumble is the PDF format of the sheets, as it limits the teacher who wants to make the sheets more relevant to their pupils. The solution? Try before you buy and download a sample unit from the website.
