While it is a good thing for schoolchildren to learn about thinking and philosophy, it is a bad thing for them to do so only through courses in religious education (“Business of ethics”, TES, April 12), which will bias the subject from the start.

Similarly, while it is a good thing for the National Forum on Morality and Spirituality in Schools to cover business ethics, it is a bad thing for the coverage to be dominated by Christian, Jewish and Muslim organisations, which will have the same effect. Your reporter comments that “the connection between ethics, philosophy and RE will continue to get stronger in the curriculum”. So much the worse for the curriculum and for proper education in these subjects.
