Do our best efforts encourage homophobia?

Judith Price says that “homophobia, despite our best efforts, is increasing” (Friday, January 19).

Has she considered that it might be more correct to say that “homophobia, because of our best efforts, is increasing”?

The moreyou tell pupils that something is wrong, the more some of them will do it, just to annoy. This is particularly true of something such as homophobia, which many people perceive as justified.
