Human cruelty and animal loyalty make a poignant pairing in a competition for pupils at key stage 3. The Imperial War Museum and the National Canine Defence League are jointly offering prizes for work based on the NCDL’s resource pack, Dogs In War. The pack comprises a teacher’s guide and some effective source material, with striking photographs, as well as activity sheets for students. Byproducing original pieces of work in response - articles, letters, posters - the six regional winners can win history books and interactive model puppies, and have their work displayed at the museum. For a free copy of Dogs In War (one per school) call 0870 333 0432. Send competition entries to NCDL Education programme, PO Box 6000, Tockwith, North Yorkshire YO26 7YD by May 20.
