'Don't be colour-blind' plea;NASUWT conference round-up

AN NASUWT report on racial equality in the classroom was criticised by some delegates for not going far enough. Clyde Green, a black teacher from east London, said: "The report draws our attention to many important areas that need to be acted upon, but while being strong on rhetoric it is weak on recommendations and action plans." He said teachers must not act in a "colour-blind way", and must take into account the cultural background of their pupils.
