Dissection in schools must not be allowed to die out because of fears over health and safety, lack of teacher training and squeamish pupils, the Institute of Biology has said. A survey by the institute found that nearly two thirds of science teachers thought the practice had declined over the past seven years, but the majority would like to see more of it. More than a quarter said their pupils’ squeamishness acted as a barrier.
