Double act reach teaching finals

TWO teachers from the same school have won places in the finals of the Platos, the national teaching awards. Modern foreign languages teacher Daniel Alliott won the outstanding new teacher category, while maths colleague Lyn Shorto won the Plato award for excellence in special needs, at a regional event this week. Both teachers work at Gaynes school in Upminster, Havering. They take back pound;6,000 of cash and computer prizes plus pound;500 bursaries. The national finals are in October.
