Downgraded to a lower salary

It is good to see The TES backing fair pay for FE lecturers. I would be happier if it was fair play for lecturers. Many institutions have not been able to pay agreed rises to the full over the past few years.

Now when the Government is reportedly trying to put more into colleges there is many a college deciding yet again to restructure.

Within that restructuring, staff on lecturing scales are being regraded as “assessor facilitators” on lower salary bands or in some cases put on to the even lower “business support” scales.

It would be interesting if someone could research your advertisements for FE vacancies over recent years to prove this trend to downgrade jobs.
