Downward trend for exclusions

The number of pupils expelled from schools in England dropped by more than 11 per cent last year (5,080, down from 5,740 in 2009-10), according to figures released last week by the Department for Education. But the figures also revealed that growing numbers of primary pupils were suspended for assaulting their classmates and teachers.
