Groups from P5-7 are being offered the opportunity to take part in basic RAF training at the museum’s evocative First and Second World War airfield. During “draft day” they will be able to listen to mechanics’ reminiscences and explore the museum’s object-handling collection, which includes flying clothes and the itchy battlefield blouse worn by RAF recruits.
For a piece of more recent history, classes are being offered a taste of the high life on board Concorde. They will find out what made it fly, then get the chance to design and build an aircraft, and test it to destruction. Sessions run until May next year, each lasting for two-and-a-half-hours.
