The Edinburgh-based Traverse Theatre has extended its annual schools playwriting project beyond Edinburgh and West Lothian to include Glasgow for the first time.

Now in its 19th year, Class Act invited senior drama and English pupils from Leith Academy, Tynecastle High, Gracemount High, Broxburn Academy and Bathgate Academy in the east - and St Paul’s High and Bellahouston Academy in the west - to write their own short plays with the help of professional playwrights Selma Dimitrijevic, Rob Evans, Jules Horne, Douglas Maxwell, Nicola McCartney, Morna Pearson and Alan Wilkins.

A creative team of professional actors and directors visited each school to develop and rehearse the students’ plays in preparation for the performances in Traverse 1 (in the case of Edinburgh and West Lothian schools) earlier this week, and the Tron Theatre, for Glasgow schools last month.
