A teacher cleared of raping a 19-year-old woman has been described as a “dreadful example” by a judge. Huw Elystan Davies, who taught Welsh at Brynteg Comprehensive in Bridgend, was found not guilty of sexual assault and supplying cocaine. But he admitted possessing the drug and was fined #163;500. Judge Stephen Hopkins told him: “What is most astonishing to me and disturbing is the fact you were at the time a teacher. What a truly dreadful example you have set to young and impressionable minds.”
