Ideas and inspiration across the curiculum

I used this activity with Year 6 students. They used the search engines www.alltheweb.com or www.google.com to find biographical information about famous people to complete their driving licences. The information they had to find included full name, date of birth, and so on.

Students were also expected to find passport-sized photos and national flags denoting countries of origin.

Apart from formatting word-processing documents, the skills involved included simple and complex searches using logical operators such as “and”, “or” and “not”. Students also needed to scan text to find relevant information. Below are two examples of incomplete driving licences used in the activities.
