Drop of 3.3 per cent in number of Scottish studends

* The latest figures on university entrance show a drop of 3.3 per cent in the number of Scottish students on full-time higher education courses in Scotland, and a fall of 14.5 per cent in the numbers from England.

But these figures, released through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, relate to those accepted on to courses, not total number of applicants. The overall number of admissions throughout the UK is also down on last year, by 3.7 per cent.
