FIGURES from the Office for National Statistics show a drop in the number of teenagers who smoke. Eleven per cent of 11 to 15-year-olds smoked at least one cigarette a week in 1998, compared with 13 per cent in 1996. The number who drank alcohol fell six percentage points to 21 per cent.
