Youth and education bodies are expected to bid for a Pounds 1 million Department of Health grant to develop services to help young people at risk of drug-taking in England.

Applications for bids are invited this month for the scheme which will guide the Government’s review on future funding priorities for combating drug misuse.

The scheme is not intended to fund general drugs education and prevention, but to encourage development of early intervention services for youngsters.

The programme is being administered by the Standing Conference on Drug Abuse (SCODA). Applications should be made to it on 0171 928 9500 and the deadline is March 10.
