The Say No and Phone campaign against drugs has led to 87 arrests, according to its organisers. Crimestoppers has had nearly 7,000 calls since the launch last October of the scheme which encourages young people to telephone the police with information about drug dealers.

The SNAP campaign, which has seen drugs worth Pounds 1.8 million being taken off the streets, is backed by politicians of all the main parties. Keith Hellawell, chief constable of West Yorkshire police, said he was pleased with results so far.

Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555111.
