Duffield to head UHI

Brian Duffield, who has held senior posts at Edinburgh University and Moray House, is to be chief executive of the company developing the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Professor Duffield, aged 53, is dean of the faculty of cultural and education studies at Leeds Metropolitan University. He was chosen from more than 80 applicants and describes the Pounds 55,000-a-year post as “the best job in Britain and the pinnacle of my career”.
