Dyslexia in some pupils could be caused by a rare eye problem that makes it harder to read, according to researchers. Academics at Heriot-Watt university in Edinburgh, are testing 200 students for Binocular Instability (BI), which makes it difficult to cope with black-on-white print.
Dorothy Crystal, an optometrist, said in some cases dyslexia could be exacerbated by undiagnosed BI, which is not picked up in standard eye tests.
