You mention in the article on “Concern at poor dyslexia training” (TESS, May 29) that De Montfort University, Lincoln, is launching the first master’s degree in dyslexia studies in the UK. Moray House Institute of Education has been offering a highly successful MEd in specific learning difficulties (dyslexia) for the past three years in response to the very concerns about the lack of specialist training which the article addresses.

The Moray House programme is available up to the certificate stage (the first four modules) by distance learning, and has been taken up by many centres in Scotland, the rest of the UK, the Republic of Ireland and overseas. The diploma stage, leading to the master’s dissertation, is currently available only on a contact basis.

John Landon. Academic co-ordinatormodular master’s scheme. Moray House Institute. Edinburgh
