At Rhyl Primary School we are working to improve attendance and punctuality. After being low in the attendance league for the London borough of Camden for a whole year, things are looking up and classes are now hitting their targets - 100 per cent in one week already. Strategies include the borough’s education welfare officer, Tanya Popaduk, coming to assembly every week to present a large teddy bear to the class with the best attendance and a colourful “early bird” (complete with worm) for the class with the best punctuality. Tanya and the education welfare team recently rewarded us with a big clock which we have put up just above our “late book” for signing in late children. Stickers and certificates are also highly popular with the children.
