The Government announced an extra pound;650,000 for colleges last month to be targeted on those who want to take FE courses before the new deal is launched in April.

The early cash is aimed at adults who have been out of work for at least two years as well as the young unemployed.

All 46 colleges will share in the fund which must be spent on “relevant courses”, defined as those “which improve the jobseeker’s skills and employment prospects”.
