Fleeced flooring, pop-up tents, photo walls and garden areas waiting to be explored are some of the features discussed in a new early years toolkit from educational trainer Elizabeth Jarman.
What is it?
The Communication Friendly Spaces Toolkit is full of handy hints and support to develop early years learning spaces in ways that will help children to become independent learners and confident communicators. Suggestions include:
- A place to gather where the furniture is set up to create a homely environment where children can sit and chat.
- A semi-private space where tents, for example, can be set up to allow children to use their imagination and play, without feeling as if they are being watched by everyone else.
- Communication resources that give children access to different items. They can choose to express themselves using colouring paper, glue, pens and fabrics or other materials.
The toolkit costs pound;25 and is available from www.elizabethjarman training.co.uk.
