During the summer, environmental charity Earthwatch is sending 550 science teachers and environmental education officers on two-week expenses-paid overseas research projects to study everything from Komodo Dragons in Indonesia to rainforests in Bolivia. Grants are worth around Pounds 1,800 and award winners are each asked to raise Pounds 100. Around 90 per cent of the funding is from the Millennium Commission and the rest from Royal Sun-Alliance. For Earthwatch Millennium Fellowships application packs, contact Dr Pamela Mackney, Earthwatch, 57 Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 6HJ, tel: 01865 311601 or e-mail:millennium@uk.earthwatch.org
