A new website can help youngsters become more adept at gathering information.

Learning and Teaching Scotland has launched the resource to boost information literacy skills. The site offers a range of interactive materials to help nine to 18-year-olds improve the way they identify, gather, organise and use information.

It is divided into four areas - what, look, choose, and tell - which are developed around the logical steps people take when researching new information.

Pupils aged 12-18 can also develop skills in internet searching, library classification, building a web page, blogging and writing a web essay.
