An S4 pupil from Hillpark Secondary has been crowned a national eco- champion while another Glasgow school, Bellahouston Academy, has been named Best Green School for its eco-committee’s contribution.

Graeme McGhee was named “best youth campaigneractivist” in the Scottish Green Awards earlier this month for his work at Hillpark Secondary, in his local community and his contribution to the Children’s Climate Change Forum at last year’s Copenhagen climate change conference.

Graeme is not only a tireless campaigner on green issues in his school but is also a youth representative on the Scottish Parliament and Scottish youth representative for Unicef.
