Last week, key stage 2 pupils sat their English and maths Sats exams. As the week drew to a close, TES took to Twitter to ask teachers how they would be marking the occasion, using the hashtag #satsweek.

“Cocktails and champagne,” replied @matjparker, a deputy headteacher in charge of a class of Year 6 children who had just sat their last exams.

Meanwhile, still in the throes of exams warfare, @digdeepdolly released one final battle cry to her weary troops: “Last one today, children and teachers. We can do this! Do your very best and remember these tests don’t show how AWESOME you are.”

NortyKnitter, aka @trc79, was feeling highly pedagogical after her students’ exams, with a special lesson planned for the following day. “We will be having a morning of Chinese-inspired painting,” she tweeted, adding: “But now we’re off to the park for rounders and ice creams!”

@katefowler78 couldn’t hide how impressed she was by her pupils. “So proud of the Year 6 this week,” she tweeted. “I can’t wait to have a picnic with you on Friday and show you how good I am at bowling!”

@margueritehogg, though, spoke of a more traditional method of celebration. “My son’s class have had a pyjama party day with party food,” she said. “They’ve all worked really hard.” Will Martin
