Where would we be without jokes at school? An abysmal punchline can be a source of unbridled laughter or groaning mock-despair; well-timed one-liners can put a smile back on our faces.
So to celebrate the magic of mirth - and, coincidentally, #InternationalJokeDay - TESS challenged its teaching Twitterati to come up with their best jokes relating to education. At stake was the chance of winning a “highly collectible” flashing pen.
@devonliz1 entered the fray with this amusing effort: “Why was the pupil’s exercise book wet? Because all the marks were below `C’ level.”
Next up was @bioteach9, who tickled the funny bones of maths teachers everywhere with this cracker: “Why was the maths teacher late today? They caught the rhombus.”
Also on the buffoonery bandwagon was @Haileyy30, with a philosophical one-liner: “The past, the present and the future walk into a bar. It was tense.”
@Agarose kept it clean with this little number: “Why did the teacher write the lesson on the windows? She wanted it to be very clear.”
And on a scientific side note, @NessieCakes ventured this: “Why should you never trust an atom?” she asked. “Because they make up everything!”
