Edexcel did not deliver late

I am writing to correct an error in your report “School sends bill to Blunkett for time spent on national tests” (TES, August 14).

It was reported that a headteacher had accused the Government, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and Edexcel of a breach of contract and “failing to meet national undertakings”, in relation to the late delivery of this year’s key stage 2 and key stage 3 test results.

I wish to make clear that Edexcel was not the original contractor for this work.

QCA employed Edexcel as an additional contractor to ensure that the results were processed as quickly and accurately as possible. Edexcel is in no way connected with the delay in delivering the results.
