If you need an excuse to celebrate, why not join our 1950s party? It’s 50 years since Bill Haley and his Comets yelled “Rock Around the Clock”, and a whole generation of teenagers donned bobby socks, ponytails and leather jackets. Bill takes the credit for starting rock ‘n’ roll with his song, but it was the guy with the blue suede shoes who really got things jumping (page 8). Young people’s music is now an established part of the curriculum. But these days, like the pupils cutting up sounds on page 21, they just mix it with a little more technology.
