Welcome to the new TES Primary. Some of you will be familiar with us; others will be seeing the magazine for the first time. This is our first issue sold on its own after two years as a monthly section of The Times Educational Supplement.

The magazine’s purpose is simple: to provide inspiration for teachers - and anyone else involved with primary-aged children, such as heads, classroom assistants and parents.

This is a magazine for the primary world that looks and feels like the best publications on the news-stands, with beautiful pictures that can be used in class. But inspiring teachers also meas respecting their professionalism and the pressures that they work under, so TES Primary is also full of straightforward curriculum help, including a double-sided maths poster and ideas on how to “beat the inspector” when OFSTED calls.

This month we have a bumper issue. PrimaryPlus, our eight-page literacy and numeracy pack, formerly just for subscribers, is now being included for all readers. Also, you’ll find a model paper house to cut out and build; there will be eight in all.

So again, welcome - or welcome back. I hope you find much to enjoy.

Diane Hofkins, Editor TES Primary
