"Who can tell me what happens when you twang the twanger?" "Sir, when you twang the twanger it goes up and down and it wafts the air." Richard Harwood picks up good vibrations when he gets Year 5 pupils talking and thinking about science. The "eureka moment" comes when enough questions lead to real understanding. And the QCA scheme of work? He's boiled it down to a list of key concepts (page 8).

The elusive concept of time is part of this week's Inside Story (page 12).

And pupils can step back into the past and imagine daily life in ancient Egypt with the first of four posters on past civilisations (centre pull-out).
