The drug profiled in our cover story this week is coursing through the veins of half the population. Tea. How many fixes of this healing drink have you had today? A Japanese Shogun once declared tea the ultimate gift - and even warlords downed a cuppa before a battle. A connection across time, perhaps, with recent demonstrators declaring “Make tea not war!” (page 12).

Music is another great healer. There is now research (should anyone still need convincing) reinforcing the importance of music education for children. On page 36, Tony Knight of the QCA talks about a “quiet revolution” in the way the subject is taught. Play on.
