The Educational Institute of Scotland, Scotland’s biggest teaching union, launched a campaign against reforms to teachers’ pay and conditions on Tuesday.
Full and half-page newspaper adverts have urged members to reject the latest offer from the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, which promises average salary increases of 14.7 per cent by 2001 but also introduces a controversial new superteacher grade and new rights for heads to direct teachers’ use of non-contact time.
