In your piece on the tightening up of vetting procedures for people working with children (TES, January 27) you included comments I made on the effectiveness of the Criminal Records Bureau.
These comments were made in 2002 since when the bureau has improved its efficiency significantly. I would not wish it to be thought that my criticisms of four years ago reflect my present view.
