In a contract worth pound;4.7 million, RM is providing computer services to Scottish Borders’ 72 primary schools and nine secondary schools, which will include internet and email facilities.

All of the authority’s pupils and learners will have access to the technology, with an expected pupil-to-computer ratio of 7.5:1 in primary and 5:1 in secondary schools.

As part of the deal, the company will provide eachsecondary school with a two or three-server network. This RM describes as a “dedicated multimedia server to deliver multimedia content across the network”.

Each primary school will use the company’s Window Box systems, which will be networked in larger schools.

The authority’s 15,000 pupils will also gain internet access and email addresses. RM will maintain all the equipment for three years.
