A team of 10 pupils from Broxburn Academy have become the 2010 Construction and the Built Environment Challenge champions, beating more than 20 other schools in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The team of S2 pupils from the West Lothian school won the title after an outstanding performance in a series of activities at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh in January. They assembled a garden shed, tiled a replica roof and solved plumbing and electrical problems. Second and third places were won by George Heriot’s School and Balerno High.

The challenge, in its 11th year, is sponsored by the Scottish Government and the sector skills councils for both construction and building-services engineering.
