With England’s cricketers enjoying a winning streak, now is a good time to introduce Howzat! into classrooms. The 1st Innings for primary schools - a 2nd Innings for secondaries is to follow - is a large and elegant pack holding two skilfully organised ring-binders. The first recommends a wealth of physical activities to develop the game’s essential skills of directing and following the path of a moving ball.
The second provides dozens of less energetic challenges, from calclating averages and editing match reports to analysing the match-day diet of Darren Gough (pictured).
Howzat! (1st Innings) is distributed free to primary schools. It is obtainable from the local county cricket development officer, who will also provide brief training in the use of the pack.
